On Tuesday, October 22nd, please join the American Hydrangea Society at the Fall Membership Meeting.
Our speaker will be Martha Tate, co-executive producer of HGTV's A Gardener's Diary and longtime Home & Garden columnist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Something she did behind the scenes, with Kathryn Macdonald and Erica Glasener, was to create the wildly successful HGTV 'A Gardener's Diary', hosted by Erica for 11 years. 240 episodes were produced and shown during those years! Also check out Martha's garden blog "Garden Photo of the Day".
Several of the featured gardens in that show were owned by AHS members, most notably our founder, Penny McHenry. Penny introduced Martha to Margaret Moseley, one of Penny's dearest friends. Margaret's garden has been featured many times on the AHS Garden Tour. Margaret's generosity and hospitality have been graciously given to our Society throughout the years. After Penny's introduction, Martha and Margaret began a long and wonderful friendship, which was the spark for Martha's newest literary endeavor. She has been writing a book about Margaret and her fabulous garden. We will be the lucky recipients of a sneak-peek into this marvelous project. We will also be some of the first to be able to purchase this book at our meeting and have the special privilege of having Margaret sign them!
Please join us at 6:30 pm (one half hour earlier) for refreshments, Plant Sale delivery and the start of our meeting at 7:30 promptly. We will be meeting at our regular location:
Holy Spirit Catholic Church
4465 Northside Drive NW
Atlanta, GA 30327

Spring Plant Sale Pickup
Distribution of our Spring Hydrangea Plant Sale will take place prior to the start of the Membership Meeting. Plants will only be delivered at that meeting, so don't miss the fun. And if you did not pre-order your plants, there may be a few sets left over to scoop up. Don't forget a check or cash, for $40.00 or $80.00, if you wish to purchase these extra sets. Those will be delivered at the end of the meeting, after all pre-paid sets have been picked up. Sign-ups for the remaining sets will be taken at the raffle table, first come first served, as supply of the sets will be limited.
Don't forget to bring a few plants to share for our fabulous plant raffle (and extra money for tickets!!!), the most economic and fun way to add plants to your garden. Who does not love to win????? Our raffle supports the wonderful and knowledgable speakers we have been able to present at our meetings.
We will vote on the new slate of officers for the 2014 Board of Directors. Mail notification of the slate will be sent out in September.
2014 Membership Renewals
Please bring your check or cash for 2014 Membership Renewals, also taken at the meeting. Membership is $30.00 for a single membership and will remain $40.00 for a family membership. Unfortunately costs are going up and we need to cover operating expense out of membership dues. Every renewal we receive at the meeting helps us cut down on postage. The New Membership Book will be debuting in the Spring, so please check that your information is correct and update any changes. On the renewal form, you will be given the option to receive your newsletter as a digital download. Please check the appropriate box.
This will be a great opportunity for the members to bring along a friend who may be interested in joining our fun-loving group. Membership is the backbone of our Society, and new members will be graciously welcomed.
Sounds like we will have a jam-packed, informational and entertaining meeting. Put it on your calendar and we will see you soon. Don't miss out on the fun!
